Treatment of Lead and Cadmium Contaminated Soil in Rochester, NY
Rochester, NY
Project Value: $685,000
New York Department of Environmental Conservation
This New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYDEC) project involved the use of a portable pug mill to successfully treat 10,000 yards of lead, cadmium and low level PCB contaminated soil with a blend of Portland cement and cement kiln dust. The project goals called for a mix design that met specific compaction requirements as well as passing a Multiple Extraction Leaching Procedure Test. The treated material was placed into an on-site landfill compacted and then capped. The material was treated below regulatory limits for TCLP lead and cadmium. Enviro-Air designed a treatment regimen that incorporated fly ash, cement and cement kiln dust.
