Enviro-Air was subcontracted to screen and stabilize over 25,000 cubic yards of contaminated dredge material. The project involved unloading 2,000-yard barges with a clamshell bucket and screening the dredge material to minus 2". The dredge material was then loaded into a specialized screw feed pug mill plant where it was fixated with fly ash and lime to form a material with a soil like consistency so it could be shipped by rail. The material was then loaded into railroad cars where it was shipped to a mine reclamation site to be utilized as backfill. Over 25,000 yards of material were stabilized in the course of a 2-month period.
