In February of 2003 Enviro-Air Technologies, Inc, was contracted to construct a 3 acre landfill cap over the aforementioned stabilized coal tar area and an existing landfill.

The entire cap was to be covered with a geotextile bentonite clay liner. Prior to placement of the cap, an elaborate storm water system had to be installed and tied in to existing storm drains. This system had to be installed through an existing landfill.

All materials from the excavation were transported to the quarry area and ultimately capped. Over 150,000 square feet of geotextile bentonite liner were placed over the area after which the soil cap was placed on top.

Enviro-Air installed over 2500 linear feet of corrugated plastic piping, 6 manholes, 6 catch basins and a detention basin. The detention basin was approximately 65’ wide and 100’ long. An eighty four inch corrugated metal detention system, designed by Contech Systems, was installed into which the entire storm drain system emptied prior to discharging into the existing storm water system.

The seven month project was completed on time with no health and safety issues at all.
